Cold Feet: Viewers divided over musical opening

Cold Feet: Adam Williams had a rather bizarre dream to kick the series off [ITV]

The hit comedy returned to screens on Friday evening for a new series starring the same familiar faces the nation fell in love with a decade ago.

Cold Feet returned last year to rave reviews with the leading actors James Nesbitt, Hermione Norris, John Thomson, Fay Ripley and Robert Bathurst all reprising their roles as Adam Williams, Karen Marsden, Pete and Jenny Gifford and David Marsden.

The seventh series hit ITV on Friday evening with a musical opening as Adam had a rather bizarre dream, leaving him waking up in a panic.

Viewers immediately took to social media to discuss the first sequence, with many divided over what to think as some loved it while others were completely baffled.

While another said: “Wtf was that #ColdFeet opening with James Nesbitt singing?”

“Wtf @coldfeettv #coldfeet Not liking the James Nesbitt singing, even if it was a dream! #notthebeststart,” moaned somebody else.

However, many fans of the drama loved the start and praised the programme for an “inspired” opening.

Happy Valley and Benidorm actress Siobhan Finneran was then confirmed as joining the cast as Nikki Kirkbright, who strikes up a relationship with David.

Cold Feet continues Friday at 9pm on ITV.
