The actress, who is best known for her role as Liz McDonald, has been candid about the mental health illness and has spoken out about her struggles with it in the past.
Appearing on This Morning, Beverley explained how well she was feeling but opened up about what she went through when she was at her worst.
As hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford spoke to Beverley about the importance of asking for help or seeking a treatment plan that works for them, the Coronation Street legend recalled the mistake she made when she began suffering from depression.
“You can get well if you get the right treatment. But I pushed myself too far. Rather than going to my GP, I knew I wasn’t myself but I continued for 18 months and I collapsed at work.”

Clarifying that she had finished filming for the day, the star added: “I’d finished all the scenes and I collapsed at the end of the day.”
During the discussion, Beverley admitted that she never expected to be diagnosed with depression, which she suffered with over eight years.
“I honestly don’t know. I am a perfectionist. I put myself under massive pressure,” she explained as she tried to come up with a possible trigger.
“I’m a people pleaser but I never thought it would happen to me,” the Coronation Street star added.

While Coronation Street has focused on depression in the form of Steve McDonald’s mental health illness storyline, Beverley revealed that the soap could raise the issue again.
“I hope so. We’ve done Steve – Liz’s son had depression. Maybe they will revisit it,” the actress commented.
As the chat came to an end, Beverley congratulated Ruth on the news that she’s joining Strictly Come Dancing, before admitting that she was jealous of the TV presenter because she isn’t allowed to do it.
“I’m so jealous you’re doing Strictly. I will vote for you I promise. They won’t let us, that’s the only reality show I would do. I am very jealous.”
