Coronation Street and EastEnders set for a special soap crossover: Peter Barlow looks set to use a famous EastEnders phrase on Steve McDonald [ITV]
With Steve and Liz McDonald preparing to hand over the Rovers Return pub to Peter Barlow and Toyah Battersby, it appears tensions will flare between the old and new landlord.
It is thought that Peter will tell Simon Gregson’s character to “get out of my pub” – a phrase made famous by Queen Vic’s landlady Peggy Mitchell, played the iconic Barbara Windsor.
Commenting on the phrase, a source hinted that the phrase will sound very different.
“Corrie has cheekily made the line its own by giving it northern welly,” a source told The Sun.

“It sounds quite different because of the Manchester accent but it will ring a bell with fans . . . and will definitely ruffle feathers in the Beeb script-writing room.”
Meanwhile, Peter and Toyah’s first shift as landlord and landlady won’t end smoothly when Toyah’s sister Leanne arrives with some bad news.
Following the breakdown of her relationship with Nick, Jane Danson’s character will find out that he’s sold the flat and has left her homeless.
Aware that Leanne, Simon and Oliver have no where to live, Peter offers them a place to stay in the pub.

Despite being shocked by her arrival, Toyah will be given a surprise when Leanne hands her and Peter a cheque for £25,000 to help them fund their IVF after being given money from the sale of Nick’s flat.
Teasing what fans can expect from upcoming scenes, actress Georgia Taylor revealed: “It’s very much a driving force in her life and at times she can be consumed by it.
“I do feel for her. I can’t imagine what it must be like to have gone through that many rounds of treatment and to have your hopes constantly dashed, when it’s the thing that you want most in life.
