Over the past few months, a number of Weatherfield residents – including the majority of the Barlow family – have been suspected of pushing the Barlow patriarch down the stairs.
However, during the latest episode of the soap, Ken confirmed that the attacker’s identity after visiting Sinead Tinker at the flat that she shares with Daniel Osbourne.
Coming face to face with Roy Cropper, Ken told the cafe owner that it was Daniel who attempted to kill him.
Explaining how he recognised the red trainers that Sinead had identified as Daniel’s, Ken said: “Daniel did it. Daniel pushed me down the stairs. I saw these trainers in the flat and Sinead said they belonged to him,” he stuttered.

“I recognised them Roy from that night.
“Daniel attacked me. It was Daniel,” he stated to an equally shocked Roy.
But it appears that Ken may have jumped to the wrong conclusion.
While Sinead may have answered Ken’s question about who owned the items that were on the floor in the flat, neither characters specified what the other one was talking about.
Having chucked a pile of Daniel’s clothes on the floor in anger when she walked in, Sinead could have been referring to those items completely unaware that Ken was actually interested in just the trainers.
The shocking ‘confirmation’ of Daniel’s guilt also didn’t match up to the alibi that the police seemed happy with.

Having raised a few eyebrows when the police arrived at the Bistro to talk about discrepancies in his alibi, Daniel later cleared up the confusion by admitting that he gave the police the wrong tram ticket because he had chucked his away.
“I did get on a the train, I did everything that I said. But I chucked my ticket away,” he said.
“If I would have know that my dad would have got attacked, then I would have kept it.
“When I realised you were all questioning and asking where were I went back rooted in a bin and found an old ticket.”
The police then confirmed that there was CCTV to back up his version of events.

Picking up on the possible red herring that the soap dropped in, one viewer posted on Twitter: “So Ken recalls the red pumps, but can he say for certain who was wearing them? More twists to come #Corrie #whoattackedken.”
While another contemplated: “It wasn’t Daniel, its too easy. There will be a twist #Corrie.”
“Was it though??? #corrie #Daniel,” questioned a third soap fan.
A fourth fan shared their theory on the social networking site by adding: “Still not convinced it’s Daniel. Sinead was looking at the clothes not the trainers #Corrie.”
“Hmmmm was it really tho ken? #Corrie,” wrote one.
