The actor, 57, got a visit from a disgruntled viewer who gave him a mouthful about the serial killer builder.
Connor is also an artist and runs a big project from his art studio in Plymouth.
He recalled that one fan who came to see his work wasn't happy when he realised who Connor was.
According to the Daily Mirror, Connor said: "We had a family come in and I took all the children to look at the paintings and we had a chat, and the grandad was not really engaging with the conversation.
"At the end he leaned into me and said, ‘You’ve ruined that programme, you have,’ and then walked out."
During a break from Corrie, Connor finished an MA in Contemporary Art Practice in 2015 and now also mentors other up and coming artists.
He also revealed that friends of his have told him that his character makes them feel uncomfortable.
Connor added: "One friend said, ‘You’re disturbing me… Watching Corrie is how me and the wife relax and now you’re in it, it’s kind of odd.’
"My mum, God rest her soul, can you imagine what she would think of me being on Coronation Street?
"The first episode went out nine days after I was born, it’s our soap, we grew up with it."
Pat Phelan is one of the most feared villains on the cobbles.
He is a businessman, con artist and builder and he first arrived on the soap in 2013, when he immediately made himself an enemy of the Windass family.
His ex-wife Valerie divorced him in 2014 and he married Eileen Grimshaw in 2017.
Nicola Rubenstein is his long-lost daughter from his affair with Annabel Rubenstein.
Meanwhile Kym Marsh said she was "battered and bruised" after filming a fight with him recently.
She told the Sun Online: "I was bruised. You do it but your body doesn’t realise it’s not really happening.
"But it was great as I’ve never played anything like this before.
