Coronation Street's David Platt given suspended sentence after horror attack on Gary Windass

The hairdresser – who has been held on remand since skipping his initial plea hearing after learning that Aidan Connor had taken his own life – is nervous as the court case begins.

Gary, played by Mikey North in the ITV soap, takes to the witness stand and hears that the judge is sentencing him to 18 months in prison – but the sentence is suspended for two years, meaning he can go home to his kids and family.

But even though he’s not behind bars any more David, played by British Soap Awards best actor nominee Jack P Shepherd, finds himself still a prisoner as his rapist Josh Tucker continues to torment him on the cobbles.

This time he targets David through his adopted son Max, by dripping poison into Max’s ear.

Josh tells the schoolboy that David doesn’t love him as much as he loves Lily because he’s not his real dad.

When Max relays what Josh has said to him to David, the furious hairdresser storms over to the café and grabs Josh by the scruff of his neck.

He warns him to stay away from Max but is Josh trying to rile David so much he ends up back in prison?

Meanwhile Shona Ramsey tries to convince David that it’s time he reported the rape to the police, before hitting him with a bombshell.

She tells him she’s managed to track down one of Josh’s old work colleagues and David is left reeling when Shona says the vile mechanic has raped before.

Will this shocking news convince David that Josh is a dangerous sexual predator who needs to be stopped?
