We know taking the piss out of Aquaman is an unwritten rule of the comic book world, but we didn’t expect a fellow DC movie to go there. (Or did we?)
Despite the fact that the King of Atlantis is pretty bloody cool these days – cheers, Jason Momoa – Cartoon Network and DC’s very own Teen Titans Go! couldn’t resist taking a pop.
In a brand new trailer for Teen Titans Go! To the Movies (which just might save DC’s cinematic reputation, by the way), the gang playfully mock the upcoming solo project, Aquaman.
“Because if Aquaman can get a movie, anyone can…”
Harsh, but probably fair.
Fortunately, Aquaman‘s director James Wan is ready to put an end to the whole “joke of the comic book world” thing, promising that his spin-off will be “very different” to what we’ve seen before.
Particularly critical flop Justice League.
“It’s going to look very different [to Justice League], it will feel very different — aesthetically, tonally, story-wise — it’s my own take,” Wan recently explained.
“It’s much more a traditional action-adventure quest movie.”

Aquaman himself is also feeling pretty confident about the upcoming film, with Jason Momoa insisting that Wan’s take will be a “totally different beast”.
“Justice League was only a weekend in Arthur Curry’s life,” he clarified. “You just slowly see this man harden up and be completely reluctant wanting to be king and not knowing what to do with these powers he has. I think James Wan just killed it.”
We’ll find out just how different Aquaman really is when it swims into cinemas on December 21 later this year.
