Warning: This article contains major spoilers for the season 12 finale of Supernatural.
Supernatural saw the deaths of two major characters in the season 12 finale – and it looks like one of them will stick for good.
Castiel (Misha Collins) and Crowley (Mark A Sheppard) both fell in the fight against Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino). But while Castiel’s future looks to be bright, Crowley seems to have come to the end of the road after Sheppard posted a farewell message to fans.
There is one new twist to the unfolding events behind the scenes, though.
Supernatural producer Jim Michaels teased that despite Crowley’s exit, the King of Hell could make a return appearance.
“We never say never Mark! Besides, I know where you live!” he tweeted.
And because bringing characters back from the dead is a fairly common occurrence on Supernatural, it gave fans hope.
But Sheppard shut Michaels’ post down, saying that the tweet was “misleading to the fans” and adding that nothing has been discussed in the slightest regarding a Crowley return.
“With all due respect, your comment is inaccurate and misleading to the fans,” he said. “There are NO plans to have me return to SPN at ANY juncture.”
Fans praised Sheppard for his clarification and saying it straight.
Of course, this doesn’t mean Crowley will never ever be back. It’s just that right now, there is nothing on the cards.
Castiel, however, is a different story…
… especially since Jared Padalecki made an adorable oopsie and slipped that Misha Collins has already worked on a future season 13 episode.
Supernatural returns to The CW this autumn, and fans in the UK can watch the show on E4.
