Deadpool 2 set photo hides a Canadian X-Men spin-off Easter egg

Filming for Deadpool 2 is well and truly under way, though a new on-set picture has opened up a very tantalising possibility in regards to the X-Men universe.

Ryan Reynolds was spotted filming in Vancouver, at one point hanging out of a yellow cab. Typical Deadpool, then.

However, if you look closer – namely on the top of the car – you can see a sign for Alpha Flight.

That is very likely a reference to the Canadian team of superheroes who are yet to be adapted for the big screen. Could we be getting a glimpse of them in Deadpool 2?

Well, this is more likely to be just an Easter Egg, but it is tantalising nonetheless, and is a long time coming considering Alpha Flight were first introduced in the comics in 1979, namely X-Men #120.

They consist of James MacDonald Hudson (Guardian), Jean-Paul Beaubier (Northstar), Jeanne-Marie Beaubier (Aurora), Walter Langkowski (Sasquatch), Michael Twoyoungmen (Shaman), and Narya (Snowbird).

There have been rumours aplenty that Fox is considering the possibility of doing an Alpha Flight movie, so we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled.

Among the new additions to the Deadpool universe for the sequel are Josh Brolin as Cable, Zazie Beetz as Domino, and Jack Kesy, whose role is undisclosed.

Deadpool 2 is set to be released on June 1, 2018 – that’s less than a year away, folks!
