Dwayne Johnson knows who he wants to fight in the Black Adam spin-off movie.
It was announced in January that he will play the villainous DC comics character in the upcoming Shazam movie and his own standalone, and now he’s teased who he wants to play Shazam.
Talking to We Got This Covered, Johnson revealed who his dream casting would be, only without actually mentioning names.
“I’m not even going to tell you his name, I’m just going to say Lone Ranger… I just remember meeting him and walking away going, ‘Man, that guy would look great, I bet, as Shazam’,” he explained.
That is a reference to The Social Network and The Man from UNCLE‘s Armie Hammer, who starred in Disney’s remake of The Lone Ranger, alongside Johnny Depp.
But don’t expect Hammer as Shazam for definite because Johnson added: “By the way, he’s one of a handful.”
So, in other words, we’re still no closer to learning who will be Shazam in the DCEU, but at least we know that the Black Adam spin-off movie is “just f**king awesome”, according to Johnson.
“This is a really fun, cool time for DC right now, because they’re world-building. We’re seeing that with Wonder Woman and Aquaman. We have a few surprises down the line,” he enthused last month.
“So what we decided to do was to create a scenario where Black Adam has his standalone movie, and Captain Marvel, Shazam, has his standalone movie. We’re building our world that way, and then we can come together at some point.”
Shazam is currently scheduled for a 2019 release, with no release date set for the Black Adam movie.
