EastEnders: Ben Mitchell’s departure left some viewers annoyed as they claimed the soap had missed out a vital scene[BBC]
EastEnders viewers were left frustrated at the soap for missing out a vital scene as Ben Mitchell sensationally left Walford.
Phil Mitchell’s son left the soap on a ferry with Aidan Maguire’s ex Ciara’s money, as he narrowly avoided Mel Owen, who was following in his tail.
However, viewers were annoyed that he didn’t make the time to visit his ex girlfriend, Abi Branning, before he left.
EastEnders: Abi Branning was diagnosed as brain stem dead in hospital [BBC]
Max Branning’s daughter was recently diagnosed brain stem dead in hospital – after falling off The Queen Vic roof – with doctors pushing the family to turn her life support off.
And while Jay Brown was encouraging his best friend to visit Abi during his exit episode, Ben left without saying a final goodbye to her.
Hitting out on social media in the run up to Ben’s exit, one fan wrote: “All i wanted was for #eastenders to actually show jay & ben visiting abi, is that too much to ask? (sic)”
EastEnders: Abi and Ben dated for a year on the BBC soap [BBC]
While another added: “Was pleased when Ben said he and Jay were going to visit Abi in hospital but looks like they’re not going to show us that…”
A third soap viewer said: “Why won’t they show jay and ben visiting abi ugh”.
And a fourth concurred: “They needed to show Ben and Jay visiting Abi in hospital!”
EastEnders: Viewers also expressed frustration at Jay Brown for forgetting Abi [BBC]
This isn’t the first time that viewers have kicked off at the soap for failing to acknowledge Abi’s critical condition.
During their Christmas Eve episode, viewers were baffled as to why half of her close friends and relatives were out celebrating when she was lying in hospital.
One tweeted: “Does jay give a sh** about Abbie at all?! All happy in queen vic whilst his mate is basically brain dead #eastenders”.
EastEnders: Jay and Ben partied on Christmas Eve while Abi and Lauren were in hospital [BBC]
While another added: “Eastenders is too jokes man, Abi and Lauren fell off the pub roof, Abi is basically brain dead & no ones gone to visit her except Max & Cora, and everyone’s getting drunk @ the pub including Ben and Jay when they are her house mates wtf! Talk about missing out story lines (sic)”.
Some unimpressed fans even pointed out that there were several other Walford residents who should have been visiting the Branning sisters in hospital as well as Ben and Jay, such as Abi’s housemate Donna Hammond and their cousins, Sonia Fowler and Robbie Jackson.
Plus, Lauren’s boyfriend Josh Hemmings, their grandma Dot Cotton and their mum Tanya Branning were nowhere to be seen.
