EastEnders star Lorna Fitzgerald has opened up about leaving the soap [BBC]
Only recently, EastEnders viewers were left devastated after it was confirmed that actresses Jacqueline Jossa and Lorna Fitzgerald – who play sisters Lauren and Abi Branning – are set to bow out of the BBC One soap 11 years after the characters made their debut.
Lorna has played Abi since 2006, while Jacqueline took over Madeline Duggan’s character of Lauren in 2010.
However, while the girls’ exit storylines are a top secret – and rumoured to be explosive – some soap watchers have already predicted and come up with a theory of how Lauren will leave Albert Square.
On Friday, Abi Branning dropped major hints about her own exit as her pregnancy secret was exposed.

Now, Lorna has spoken out over her exit and confessed she’s glad she and Jacqueline are leaving together for added support.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, the actress shared fond memories of her time as Abi as she teased what she could be up to next.
She said: “I’ve been here since I was 10 so I am just going along with it, really. I have been here for a fantastic 11 years so I am just looking forward to what the future holds.”
On what’s on the cards for her future, she added: “It’s so obvious to say film but that’s so broad. I’d like to do a bit of theatre – something completely different.

“This will sound really crazy now but The Exorcist is in the West End for Halloween. Imagine playing that, it would just be so weird and something completely different.
“No-one could compare it to Abi – well I hope not! Maybe I should play Mary Poppins instead!”
Lorna declined to comment on how Abi will leave, not giving anything away about her exit – after Jacqueline’s husband Dan Osborne revealed the actress was yet to find out.
Former TOWIE star Dan admitted Lorna did know her character’s fate – with Abi’s baby bombshell set to be exposed next week.

Abi hinted to Ben Mitchell and Jay Brown in a recent episode that she would be moving out at Christmas – when her exit airs.
While EastEnders have not revealed anything about the scenes, other than that they will be “explosive”, fans will have to keep their eyes peeled for clues and news on the plot.
