EastEnders: Mel Owen is returning to the soap, played by Tamzin Outhwaite [BBC]
Only recently, it was revealed that Tamzin Outhwaite would be returning to EastEnders as her iconic character Mel Owen.
And now details of her return have been revealed, as she crashes back into Walford after 16 years away from the soap.
According to official EastEnders spoilers, Mel is set to leave ex-husband Ian Beale gobsmacked as she lands in his mum Kathy’s cafe on Bridge Street.
While actress Tamzin – who plays Mel, has teased what Ian’s reaction will be – and it’s NOT what soap watchers think.

Talking exclusively to OK! Online, the 47-year-old actress said: “Well, I think instead of being the angry bitter Ian, I think Ian is going to be excited.
“But it’s not going to be centred around Ian and Mel.
“They will meet, but it’s not going to be all about them.”
In the new spoilers, and pictures, it sees Ian and Mel sit down for a much needed catch up, but does she have an ulterior motive for visiting him?

Besides visiting her ex-husband and Kathy, Mel also sets her sights on Steve Owen’s old enemy, Phil Mitchell.
The pair are set to come to blows in future episodes, as the EastEnders legend makes a point of seeking Sharon’s husband out upon her return.
While Tamzin also recently revealed that Mel won’t be alone in Walford for long, as she will be joined by her son Hunter.
