EastEnders‘ Rainie Cross will consider betraying Max Branning next week, after her mum Cora returns to the Square.
Viewers know that Rainie (Tanya Franks) and Max (Jake Wood) have tied the knot as a secret business arrangement, but last night’s episode hinted that it could be about to become more.
Although Max surprisingly responded to Rainie’s advances, any hopes for a real romance between the pair will be dashed when he reiterates his intentions in the aftermath.
With Max seemingly uninterested in anything more, Rainie will be forced to decide where her loyalties really lie when Cora throws her a curveball.
Rainie’s week initially gets off to a bad start when she is tempted back to drugs, after being rejected by Max yet again.
Having tried and failed to get Max’s attention, a hopeless Rainie has a moment of weakness where she considers buying drugs from a dealer – only to be stopped in her tracks by Phil Mitchell.

After the pair have a heart-to-heart, a supportive Phil visits Max to discuss the situation with Rainie and she’s later touched when Max apologises.
However, Max and Rainie are soon left stunned when they arrive home to find Cora with baby Abi – and the surprises don’t end there, either.
Keen to build bridges with her daughter, Cora offers Rainie an olive branch, suggesting they move on from the past and start again.
Cora’s true intentions eventually become clear when she meets with Rainie alone and gives her a tempting offer that could change everything.
Of course, the pair’s exchanges don’t go unnoticed by an unsettled Max – who later confronts Rainie about whose side she’s really on.
But when Max upsets Rainie yet again, she turns back to Cora – questioning her on the offer and asking for a cheque. Is she about to turn her back on Max?
