EastEnders shock as Ian Beale vows to marry Mel Owen again

EastEnders‘ Ian Beale continues to get carried away with himself next week, as he vows to marry Mel Owen again.

Ian (Adam Woodyatt) shares his big ambitions with his mum Kathy, who’s not too pleased about his ongoing obsession with his ex-wife.

Next week’s episodes see Ian under pressure as he arranges a ‘soft launch’ for his new restaurant venture with Masood Ahmed (Nitin Ganatra).

Unfortunately, bickering Ian and Masood are continuing to clash over everything, with both having very different ideas over the best approach.

To make matters worse, a distracted Ian seems to be focusing on Mel (Tamzin Outhwaite) at every stage, striking up a mutually beneficial business deal to get in her good books.

Much to Kathy’s dismay, Ian also asks Mel’s troublesome teenage son Hunter (Charlie Winter) to help with the restaurant launch – seeing this as yet another opportunity to impress her.

Explaining himself, Ian tells Kathy that he’s going to marry Mel again, despite the fact that she’s clearly loved-up with Jack Branning (Scott Maslen).

Ian and Mel do seem to be getting closer as friends when they later sit down for a heart-to-heart about Lucy’s tragic death, but Jack soon ruins the moment by interrupting.

Not taking the hint, Ian is left more determined than ever to make Mel his partner again. Is he setting himself up for a fall?

EastEnders airs these scenes on Friday, June 29 at 8pm and 9pm on BBC One.
