Emmerdale: Bob and Brenda's wedding climax shocks viewers

Tonight’s (May 10) episode of Emmerdale ended in heartache as newlyweds Bob Hope and Brenda Walker decided to call it a day on their relationship – just hours after they married.

Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) was clearly having some doubts about the relationship as she listened to Bob (Tony Audenshaw) make a post-wedding toast.

And her fears were compounded when she asked to take a look at the photos Bob’s young son Heath had taken on his camera, and she noticed that Bob looked utterly miserable in all the candid shots of him.

Whilst the couple were taking their first dance, Brenda suddenly announced “I can’t do this” and made a run for it.

When Bob followed her home, she confessed that she thinks getting married was a mistake, saying she believed that Bob still wants to be with Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) after their affair ended.

What’s more, she reckoned she was settling with Bob because she was afraid of being alone. Awkward.

Brenda then handed a gutted Bob back her wedding ring as he left their home with a bag of his belongings, while Laurel looked on from the street.

Viewers were really pleased to see Brenda take ownership of her future, but also very disappointed to see the couple’s marriage end so quickly:

But before the sad break-up, we were treated to Jessie Grant singing for the couple’s first dance, and the secret’s out – actress Sandra Marvin has a beautiful voice:
