Emmerdale's Michael Parr on shock gun drama: 'Ross Barton would definitely shoot Joe Tate'

Emmerdale star Michael Parr has shared some new teasers on next week’s gun drama, warning that Ross Barton would have no qualms about shooting Joe Tate.

Ross holds Joe (Ned Porteous) at gunpoint in a tense double bill on Thursday, May 24, taking drastic measures in his search for answers over the acid attack.

Next week’s episodes see Ross finally find out that Joe bribed Simon McManus into keeping quiet about the true reasons behind the attack.

Deciding this looks very dodgy – and not realising Joe is trying to protect Debbie – Ross pays a visit to Home Farm armed with a gun.

Michael explained: “Ross gets his hands on a gun from an old friend, as he’s been told that Joe was the mastermind behind the acid attack. Even though he knows Simon carried out the attack, he now knows that Joe paid Simon to lie in court.

“Ross gets an old World War 3 gun – a gun with a barrel and six holes in it. Ross puts one bullet in it and goes to see Joe. Ross spins it, points the gun at Joe and keeps pulling the trigger.

“It’s not going off with the bullet, but it’s obviously going to go off at some point! So there’s a lot of pressure on Joe to reveal the truth, but he never folds.”

Asked whether Ross would really be prepared to shoot Joe, Michael replied: “He technically does. He doesn’t know where the bullet is when he’s pulling the trigger, so he definitely would shoot Joe.

“If Ross knew that Debbie was the one to blame, he’d be heartbroken. He’s been hell-bent on revenge so far, so he would still want his revenge, but it would throw a massive spanner in the works to know that it’s the girl that he loves. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
