The programme’s official Twitter account made an announcement warning viewers of the move, prompting fans to take to social media to blast the change.
One wrote: “Why has it been moved to Thursday!? This is ruining my Wednesday night viewing and I don’t like it!!! Grumble grumble.”
Another even claimed to have their “heart shattered 15 minutes before it’s set to air by finding out it’s not on until tomorrow”.
A third viewer told Channel 4 to “make your minds up”,whilst others questioned whether they could wait, saying: “ I have to wait another day !? I am really not sure that is possible!!!”
The upheaval follows bosses having previously unsettled fans by moving its viewing time from a Monday to Wednesday.
But others were thrilled by the change in time, adding: “This has just made my day! I’d been out all day and didn’t get home in time for it. Thought I’d have to catch up.”
While another said: “I had heartbreak, got all panicky then remembered it’s on tomorrow instead, for a moment though life was unsettled.”
The cult Channel 4 show, along with its Maitre d’ Fred Sirieix, has won legions of fans since it first aired in 2013.
It offers a fly-on-the-wall view of blind-daters on their first meeting in a fancy London restaurant.
And despite some mismatches, the programme has managed to create some enduring loves.
After less than one year of meeting in the First Dates restaurant, Ibiba and Aarron announced they were expecting a baby.
The couple welcomed a little girl, Aziza, in April 2017.
First Dates is on Channel 4 at 10pm every Thursday
