The First 'Halloween' Reboot Trailer Is Here to Scare the Pants Off You

Halloween 2018 Trailer

Summer has barely started, but it’s never too early to start prepping for the witching season. Here to start you off right is the first trailer for the Halloween reboot, starring Jamie Lee Curtis in her iconic role as Laurie Strode, the woman who fought off deranged killer Michael Myers in the original 1978 film. It is, in a word, incredible.

The trailer begins with Michael in prison, still crazy as hell, but it doesn’t take long for him to escape. (There’s no Halloween if he doesn’t escape!) This doesn’t bother Laurie Strode, though, because she’s been waiting for this moment for 40 years. “Do you know that I pray every night that he would escape?” she says. When someone asks her why, she replies, “So I could kill him.” Cue Jamie Lee Curtis cocking a shotgun and shooting at some seriously destroyed targets in her backyard.

After that, things take a turn for the terrifying. Michael shows up in a gas station bathroom to drop a handful of human teeth onto the woman inside, which is a great reminder about why you should never ever use a gas station bathroom. Then that classic Halloween music kicks in around 1:55 and all bets are off. “You don’t believe in the boogey man,” says Laurie. “You should.” Listen to Jamie Lee, people. She’s trying to help you out.

Halloween premieres Oct. 19.
