The Foo Fighters teamed up with James Corden for the most recent Carpool Karaoke as part of The Late Late Show – but the band’s experience proved to be slightly less than enjoyable for them, unfortunately.
The rock band sang hits including ‘All My Life’, ‘Learn to Fly’ and ‘Best of You’ – as well as their new single ‘The Sky Is a Neighbourhood’. The video was a hit, yet frontman Dave Grohl said he found the shoot “a little uncomfortable”.
“Y’know, I don’t mind singing my own songs at Glastonbury or The O2,” he told NME, “but if I had to sing you a song right now, I’d be too embarrassed.”
Pat Smear, guitarist for the band, agreed, saying: “Singing other people’s songs would have been easier.”
Grohl revealed that they had done a fair few covers.
“I could do that all day,” he said. “We did the Ramones and Rick Astley, but they didn’t use it. I don’t know why.”
However, despite his criticisms, Grohl said he has nothing against Corden at all – calling him a “music lover” and a “very nice guy”.
Prior to Foo Fighters, Corden’s latest Carpool Karaoke passenger was none other than Tom Hanks…
And not content on chucking Tom in any old car, the team gifted the acting legend with a school bus to pick James up in, before the two gave a rendition of ‘Kids in America’.
