Diesel narrowly edges his co-star – and sometime partner-in-beef – Dwayne Johnson into second place. The former wrestling star brought in $1.5 billion this year, although the release of his most recent film Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle should add substantially to his total takings.

Other women who feature on the list include British actresses Emma Watson – who starred in the highest-grossing film of the year, Beauty and the Beast – and Daisy Ridley, thanks to her reprisal of Rey in the Star Wars sequel.
The highest-ranking British man on the list is Tom Holland, whose films took $888 million (£662 million), largely thanks to his role in Spiderman: Homecoming.
