Fresh from crushing our hearts with the loss of a certain furry friend in the finale of Friday Night Dinner a few weeks back, comedy great Robert Popper is back with an all-new Channel 4 series.
Luckily, no canine companions were harmed in the premiere of Stath Lets Flats, a quirky sitcom about a lettings agency run by a Greek-Cypriot family in the heart of London’s busiest real estate district.
The bumbling title character is played by series co-creator Jamie Demetriou, and in the first episode, Stath is pressured by his dad Vasos (Christos Stergioglou) to let some flats quickly if he wants to take over the family business.
Unfortunately, Stath isn’t very motivated or even good at his job, so he decided to steal a potential lead from rival Carole (Katy Wix)… to utterly disastrous consequences.
Prior to transmission, Stath Lets Flats got a mixed-positive review from TV critics, but what did viewers think? Let’s have a look at the initial reaction to Wednesday’s (June 27) premiere (warning: NSFW tweets below):
Not everyone was impressed. To say the least:
Just like critics, viewers seem very mixed at this early stage.
Stath Lets Flats continues next Wednesday (July 4) at 10pm on Channel 4, when Stath enlists sister Sophie (Natasia Demetriou) and Al (Alastair Roberts) to help him let a garden flat… only to discover that his mate and his sister might have some romantic chemistry! Dun dun dun!
