Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke says fans aren’t ready for season 8

Game of Thrones star and Khaleesi of our hearts Emilia Clarke has warned that fans are so not ready for the show’s final season. Just as well, really.

Following the (unwelcome) news that we’re going to have to wait until 2019 for season eight to grace us with its presence, Emilia has promised that the delay is “worth it”.

Chatting to Access Online at Sunday’s Golden Globes, Emilia gave almost nothing away about what we can expect from next year’s Thrones finale – other than it’s gonna be big.

Like, ice dragon kinda big.

“It’s gonna be worth [the wait],” she insisted. “Oh my god, it’s gonna be worth it.”

Revealing just how intense season eight is set to be, the actress also revealed that it took her a while to take “it all in”.

“I read the scripts this season and I, in some kind of a daze, walked out of my house…and about three hours later I came home and I still hadn’t taken it all in,” she explained.

When asked if anyone is actually ready for the series’ end, Emilia warned: “I don’t know. I don’t know if anyone’s ready. I don’t know if TVs are ready.”

And if that’s got you worried about what Thrones is going to throw at us next year, then spare a thought for Kit Harington, who’s already having kittens about the season.

“There’s a certain pressure I’ve not felt before,” he recently revealed. “Whereas before, every year there’s always been a bit of pressure, this season is one where we could easily let people down.

“Obviously, we don’t want to do that so we’re very much stepping up everyone’s game which is very apparent, at least to me.”

Let’s hope so.

Game of Thrones will return to HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK in 2019.
