The director of DCEU’s forthcoming Shazam! movie has teased fans with a preview of the movie’s script, which seems to show Superman getting a a bit of beef thrown his way by the movie’s badass titular protagonist.
It also features 10-year-old Billy Batson drinking beer with a “dapper tiger”, Superman putting on a pair of glasses “like a bitch”, and some literal moustache-twirling fiendishness.
Yep, if you haven’t already guessed, the ‘preview’ is a pretty great troll courtesy of the movie’s director David Sandberg.
But damn it if we don’t now want to see Shazam v Superman for real. Preferably still including the line: “Oh, is dis bitch.”
Sandberg – who is more accustomed to directing horror films, most recently with Annabelle: Creation and last year with the thrilling Lights Out – will be trying his hand at the world of superheroes in the forthcoming DC movie.
Reflecting on the film – which follows young Billy Batson, who has the capability of transforming into the superhero Shazam – Sandberg recently revealed that it will be more light-hearted than fellow DC entries such as Batman vs Superman and the forthcoming Justice League.
“The big attraction for me with that character is the fact that every kid dreams of being Superman, right?” Sandberg told the Toronto Sun.
“I mean I certainly did, and (Billy) is a kid that gets that chance. He gets to become the superhero.
“So, it’ll be big with superpowers in a way. In terms of what people can expect, I think this will be one of the more fun or lighthearted movies so far in the DC universe. It certainly will be a departure.”
Shazam! will hit cinemas on April 5, 2019.
