Hollyoaks have recast a popular character [Channel 4]
Neil Roberts has played the role of Glenn Donovan since August this year, and started appearing more regularly in October.
However, Hollyoaks viewers may have noticed that Adam and Jesse Donovan’s father has failed to appear in the opening credits.
And now the reason has now been revealed as the actor who plays the character is set to leave his role.
It is reported that the new storylines written for the character didn’t fit in with Neil’s other commitments.

But instead of the character being axed, Hollyoaks bosses have decided to recast Neil with a new actor, according to Digital Spy.
Actor Bob Cryer will replace Neil and has already been on the set in Liverpool filming scenes.
A source told the publication: “Storylines for Glenn have now expanded beyond what was originally planned, which has led to the role being recast.”
It is said that Neil’s final scenes as Glenn has already been seen on screen.

But with much more drama to come for the character, Bob will no doubt jump in right at the deep end, with his scenes due to air early next month.
The character of Glenn is set to be embroiled in a huge storyline that has yet to unfold on screen as fans already know that he is the real father of Darcy’s son Toby.
He also has more dirt on Darcey as he’s aware of her involvement in Tracey’s death.
Hollyoaks fans needn’t worry about the change of face as soaps are no stranger to recasts.

Coronation Street famously replaced Adam Rickett with Ben Price to play the role of Nick Tilsley.
Coincidently, Adam now stars in Hollyoaks as Kyle, the secret lover of Ryan Knight.
