Inside the plush Celebrity Big Brother 2018 house – first look and tour

With just one day to go until the launch of Celebrity Big Brother summer 2018, it’s time to take a sneak peek around this series’ house – and Mirror Online can exclusively reveal the very first video tour.

We were invited down to the Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Herts, for a proper snoop around the CBB house, and managed to smuggle in our cameras despite them being taken straight off the celebrity housemates when they arrive.

With its bright colours, rainforest bird knick-knacks and newly revamped neon-lit Diary Room, the house perfectly encapsulates its Eye Of The Storm theme this year.

CBB Bit On The Side host Rylan Clark-Neal even popped in to say hello, and sat down with us to talk about the secret nods to past series in the interior decor.

"Fans are going to love it, because there are little things from each series – so the orange of those chairs [in the dining area] is the same colour as the Big Brother 3 Diary Room chair, it’s the same colour," he gushed

"Series 6 house, series 7 living room design on the side there. I love it."

Here’s your first look inside the house.

Inside the CBB house – the garden, hot tub and bar

With its sunshine yellow and brilliant blue theme colours, the housemates will be treated to a spot of Mediterranean living as soon as they head outside.

But even if the heatwave is now just a distant memory, the stars will get a chance to warm up in both the outdoor swimming pool and hot tub.

(We tested them both out and can confirm they were heated).

Yellow sunloungers prepped with cushions and fluffy towels lie in a row on top of the fake grass, while cameras on the walls and positioned right next to the hot tub wait to catch the celebs at their most relaxed.

There are fluffy waterproof microphones secured on the side of the pool to capture all the audio action.

This year there’s even a bar where the housemates can whip up a cocktail or pretend they know what Cointreau is.

Producers confirmed to Mirror Online that the celebs will be given alcohol this year, despite concerns over recovering alcoholic Sarah Harding’s boozy behaviour in the house last year, but "will all be closely monitored" to ensure they don’t over-do it.

Plush poolside boudoir and pampering stations

Every celebrity housemate wants to look their best, so this year telly bosses have laid on a millennial pink room dedicated to the art of the pamper where they can chill out, do their hair and get ready for the day.

Enormous velvet day beds with plumped cushions entice the stars to sit down for a natter, while the makeup stations complete with mirrors and hairdryers invite them to get ready in style.

There are plenty of cupboards where the housemates can store their makeup and beauty products, while a wall of identical mirrored sunglasses adds to the boujee feel – although when Mirror Online tried to steal a pair, we discovered they’d all been glued down. Boo.

Bedroom and bathroom

Two rows of luxurious beds await the tired bodies of the pooped housemates, complete with fancy throws and pillows.

Some are single, others are meant for two occupants each – so which celebs will end up bunking up together?

As is in the case throughout the rest of the house, two-way mirrors line the wall so producers can keep an eye on their subjects at any time of the day and night.

Over in the bathroom, a bright pink free-standing bathtub takes pride of place at one end, while on the other side a row of mirrors, stools and a velvety sofa invite the housemates to take a load off and get to know each other on a more personal level.

Dining area, kitchen and separate living room

The open-plan kitchen and dining area will be the first thing housemates see when they walk down those iconic stairs on the launch night.

An enormous circular table takes pride of place, set with golden cutlery, posh wine glasses and orange and green leaf-themed plates and bowls (which, again, we were firmly told not to steal).

Little statues of tropical birds are everywhere in sight, including a big peacock standing guard by the door to the outside world.

And see these bright orange armchairs? Behind the one on the left is a secret hatch, where Big Brother can post instructions to the house or small items for the stars.

Housemates will find a selection of gold and brass-topped saucepans to cook with, and just two small fridges to keep all their fresh food in – when we nosed around there was only a couple of Muller Corner yogurts (peach and apricot flavoured. Yes, we checked).

There’s a separate store room leading off from the dining area where all the dried goods are kept, as well as a big fridge that contained – joy of joys! – a lot of prosecco.

This time around, producers have decided to separate the living area from the kitchen, meaning housemates have to trek through the garden or their bedroom to get to the bright yellow and blue sofas.

In what used to be the old Task Room, the sitting room now has plenty of space for the celebs to stretch out and get away from each other when tensions rise.

A screen is embedded in the far wall, so presumably the housemates will have to gather in this room for the live evictions.

Hilariously, the giant rug was also glued down (we really did try our hardest to steal something).

The bits we can’t show you – Diary Room and secret loos

This year, the Diary Room has been put back downstairs (in previous years it’s been up the stairs by the front door) and there’s a vestibule area where housemates can wait in for their turn to talk to Big Brother.

An array of neon lights are scattered over the walls, and there’s a mirror at eye level where the celebs can check their reflection before heading into the Diary Room.

We weren’t allowed to film the actual chair, but we can reveal it’s a lot larger than it looks on telly. Big Brother speaks to you as you look into the single camera in front of you, and there’s a secret door leading to the outside for anyone who needs to leave in a hurry.

There are also three secret toilets throughout the house – one just off the kitchen, another in the pool room/boudoir and a third leading off from the sitting room.

None of them had any locks or cameras, so the celebs are guaranteed some privacy. They’re all painted grey and contain only a loo, sink and shelves for toilet paper.

Where is Celebrity Big Brother filmed?

The whole CBB series is filmed on location at the Elstree Studios complex in Borehamwood, south Herfordshire.

The housemates have gone into lockdown at a secret hotel location nearby and will not be allowed to speak to anyone not connected to the show for 24 hours before launch, meaning they’ll have to say goodbye to their friends and family on Wednesday.

Once they’ve woken, they’ll be stashed in chauffeured cars and driven through the security gates into the studio carpark, then – away from any prying eyes – will be put in a backstage area until the live launch.

They’ll get made camera-ready by the studio’s wardrobe, hair and makeup teams, fresh for their CBB debuts.
