Lisa Riley’s heartache as doctors tell her 'IVF will likely end in failure'

The 41-year-old said today that IVF is unlikely to be successful for her because her eggs are “not good quality”.

Lisa turned her life around last year, losing 12 stone in weight and undergoing surgery to remove her excess skin.

The new lease of life saw the former Emmerdale star confirm she would love to start a family with her publicity shy boyfriend.

Despite the bad news from doctors, Lisa said she is trying to stay positive.

Speaking to The Daily Mirror, Lisa said: Finding out that I was unlikely to get pregnant was a blow.

“We have decided now that we aren’t going to go down that route, and now that we have made that decision I could not be happier.”

Fertility tests revealed that Lisa’s remaining eggs are not of a quality that doctors expected, meaning IVF would possibly not work.

After speaking at length with her partner, Lisa admitted she didn’t want to go through years of trying if there was a chance it could come to nothing.

She said she felt “emotionally drained” after a challenging few months but said she was looking to the future.

When asked about how she felt, Lisa said she was intent on not bowing down to society’s perception of what women should be.

She added: “I don’t want people to look at me like an unfinished painting because I don’t have a child.”

Lisa said she was now concentrating on being the best aunt to her two nephews and her unborn niece.
