James Mangold’s Logan was pretty much perfect as far as we’re concerned, but we were still sad to learn that Liev Schreiber was intended to reprise his role as Sabretooth in the movie.
Now, a deleted scene from the DVD/Blu-ray release has revealed that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine nearly addressed his absent brother in the final cut of the movie.
Screen Rant reports that a scene late in the film saw Bobby – one of Laura’s fellow escapees from Xander Rice’s shady institute – approach a sleeping Logan with a Sabretooth/Victor Creed action figure, and ask if he was a real person.
This leads Logan to talk a bit about his brother and the events of the dreaded X-Men Origins: Wolverine (in which Schreiber was one of the few saving graces).
Another alternate scene posted on Yahoo! shows Wolverine seeing his friend Caliban (Stephen Merchant) one more time before he dies horribly. Including this in the movie would have made for an even bleaker experience.
Schreiber was approached to appear in Logan, but a scheduling conflict meant that he was unable to return for the movie.
Logan will be released on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK on July 10.
