Prison Break is currently enjoying a revival thanks to the power of nostalgia, but what we’re all wondering is: is this series just a one-off thing?
Thanks to TVLine, we might have an answer to that question. The publication reports from Fox’s Upfront presentation that took place earlier today (May 15), where the network’s Dana Walden said the following:
“We would definitely consider doing more episodes. I know [the producers] are thinking about it.”
That’s a good sign, because everyone knows that it’s around Upfronts week that US television networks mercilessly bring down the axe – the biggest casualties this year being 2 Broke Girls and Scream Queens.
HOWEVER, just because we might get more Prison Break doesn’t mean we’ll be getting a season seven in 2018, season eight in 2019 etc.
TVLine also quotes Walden as saying “we want to make it special” and stating that the show could return intermittently, meaning that seasons may return whenever they’re ready, or we could get specials or mini-series instead.
So when are we likely to get more? Probably when creator Paul T Scheuring can come up with a new idea.
Previously, star Wentworth Miller said that he feels “like there’s more story there and now we’re talking about multiple generations.
“There are a lot of different directions that we could go, but I’m not in favour of exploring any of that unless there’s something awesome that we can sink our teeth into.”
Prison Break currently airs on FOX in the UK and the US.
