Love Island viewers are calling for the series to settle that dispute over Georgia Steel and Jack Fowler’s kiss, as Laura Anderson continues to be conflicted over who kissed who.
In Tuesday’s (July 10) episode, fans watched in frustration as new islander Idris Virgo weighed in on the debate while taking Laura out on a date.
After Idris told Laura that he had seen footage of Georgia and Jack’s kiss – and that Jack had, in fact, instigated it – viewers began to question the newcomer’s motivation.
Some viewers suggested it was irresponsible of Love Island to draw the saga out even further.
“Sort it out! Not fair on Laura! Playing with people’s emotions! Petition for footage to be sent in!!” one fan demanded, while another said: “I don’t wanna have to start a petition, get 100,000 signatures and make them lot consider debating this shit in Parliament.”
(To be fair, Parliament’s probably a bit busy right now – although the House of Lords has discussed Love Island before…)
Digital Spy has reached out to ITV for comment. There has previously been controversy about how many times the infamous kiss was filmed by producers.
Here’s a small sample of readers’ frustrations (including some strong language):
Love Island was confronted with similar concerns last week, after fans claimed the series had deliberately shown Dani Dyer an out-of-context clip of Jack Fincham and Ellie Jones.
Some accused the show of ’emotional cruelty’ towards Dani and “mind games”, while Ofcom went on to confirm it had received over 2,500 complaints about the incident.
Love Island continues on Wednesday (July 11) at the later time of 9.30pm on ITV2.
