Maze Runner: The Death Cure’s first trailer is here, and the stakes are high

The first trailer for Maze Runner: The Death Cure has arrived – and it’s just as action-packed as predicted.

Production was halted and the movie’s release date pushed back a year after Dylan O’Brien was seriously injured while filming on set in Canada in 2016, but the good news is the film will finally arrive in cinemas on January 26, 2018.

And the even better news is that The Death Cure, which will be the final instalment of the Maze Runner trilogy, premiered its first trailer during last night’s Teen Wolf (September 24) – and it looks proper awesome.

The Death Cure follows the adventures of Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and crew as they try to find a cure to a deadly disease called ‘the flare’.

Even though it’s only a minute or so long, the teaser is chock-full of stunts, kicking off with Thomas tumbling to the ground.

Game of Thrones star Aidan Gillen also appears briefly as his Scorch Trials character Jansen – even though he’s not listed on the movie’s IMDb page – probably because the trailer uses images from the previous two films.

But then it’s on to the new stuff, which looks rather promising indeed.

“Three years we spent behind walls, trying to break out, and now you want to break back in,” says Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangster).

The trailer then cuts to a high-action train chase which sees Thomas straddling a fast-moving freight train before standing on top of it and being shot at.

“You can’t save everyone, Thomas,” says Teresa (Kaya Scodelario).

Maybe not. But can he save himself?

The Maze Runer: The Death Cure will be in cinemas January 26, 2018.
