The presenter had joined his wife Ruth Langsford on the This Morning sofa to introduce Friday’s edition of the show.
However, just minutes after the programme began, the Irish host angered viewers with a faux pas.
Things started off well as Eamonn and Ruth listed the items coming up in the show, which included a chat with Hollyoaks star Kieron Richardson and husband Carl Hyland, who welcomed twins earlier this year.
Eamonn said: “They’ve always dreamt of becoming parents but they never they never thought it would become real.”

However, it was his recap a little later on that really stirred up anger with viewers.
The star said: “Martin Lewis with the weekly deals just after 11, we’ve got the Hollyoaks star Kieron Richardson and his husband Carl on becoming gay dads at quarter to 12.”
Following this statement, viewers took to Twitter to complain about Eamonn’s terminology.
Fans couldn’t understand why he referred to the married couple as “gay dads” when just “dads” would;’e sufficed.
And while it’s evident that Eamonn didn’t intend to cause offence, This Morning viewers were not so forgiving.
One person tweeted: “Oh come on @EamonnHolmes …….gay dads! Just dads will suffice! #ThisMorning.”
