Peter Kay was absent for Car Share’s NTA’s win, leaving co-star Sian Gibson to pick up the gong [itv]
The rib-tickling BBC programme scooped the gong for Best TV Comedy at Tuesday’s star-studded ceremony, held at London’s O2 Arena.
Delighted actress Sian Gibson picked up the silver trophy after it fought off stiff competition from the likes of ITV series, Benidorm.She thanked producers before addressing Bolton-born star Peter Kay’s absence.
She told the star-studded crowd: “Obviously, thank you so much to Mr Peter Kay.

“He’s gutted he can’t be here tonight.
“He sends his love.”
She added: “He’s going to be over the moon.

It may well be the final award for the hit series, after it was revealed there would not be a third instalment.
Meanwhile Peter, 44, is no stranger to the accolade, after securing the same award back in 2006.

The comedian cancelled a hist of tour dates last year
Yet last year the comic shocked the nation when he scrapped his 100-date tour due to a “family illness”.
The comedian announced the news in a statement, in which he asked people to ‘respect his privacy’.
Peter was set to embark on a huge UK arena tour that started in April, and would until 2019.
