Netflix US has confirmed to Digital Spy that it is in talks with Disney to retain the rights to air Star Wars and Marvel films following the premiere of Disney’s very own streaming service.
The company revealed earlier this week that it will pull all new Disney and Pixar films from Netflix US when the service launches in 2019 as part of its plans for its own streaming service, DisneyLife.
As for Disney subsidiaries Marvel and Star Wars? Well, their fate is a little more uncertain.
Following the announcement, Disney’s chief executive officer Bob Iger revealed the company had not yet decided the fate of its Marvel and Star Wars movies due to it’s current pay one deal with Netflix.
