Last year we reported that Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman (also known as Parks and Recreation‘s Leslie Knope and Ron Swanson) were working on an arts and crafts reality show for NBC.
It seemed like a bizarre concept, and we didn’t hear anything about the project for ages, so we thought we might have imagined it in some crazy fever dream.
But nope, it’s totally real and has a trailer which you can watch right now:
As if you couldn’t tell from the trailer, Making It is aiming for the same friendly and slightly twee atmosphere that made The Great British Bake Off such a resounding success, except with people making things out of wood and glue rather than flour and weird-sounding bread.
Each episode will involve the contestants taking on two challenges set and created by the famous duo, in the hope of being crowned that week’s Master Maker.
You can also expect plenty of puns.
If you aren’t sure why Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman are hosting such a show then you need to get your head out of the shed. Offerman is well known for maintaining a woodworking shop and has been known to build the odd boat or two when he’s not on the telly:
Making It will begin on NBC on Tuesday, July 31. Let’s hope it gets picked up by a UK channel (or Netflix).
