Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were replaced today after failing to make it back to This Morning studio in time.
The presenters stopped by Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital to mark 70 years of the NHS.
They met midwives in the maternity ward and even spoke to a patient during an invasive cardiac investigation.
Phil and Holly spent the first 45 minutes of the show in their local hospital in Hammersmith listening to the amazing stories.
But the This Morning hosts were missing from the studio when the show briefly returned after Alison Hammond’s pre-filmed segment.
Holly Willoughby’s style
Lisa Snowdon was forced to fill in while the presenters made their way back to the studio.
Sitting on the sofa, she said: "Now Phillip and Holly are on their way back to the studio. When they get here I’ll be showing you how to pull off one of the summer’s biggest trends.
"Also Phillip and Holly will be finding out if it’s ever ok to sunbathe naked in your garden. See you in a few minutes."
Thankfully the presenters made it back safely to the building after the advert break.
"What a morning," said Phil as he walked through the door to the studio.
Holly said: "Welcome back – we made it."
It was quite a varied morning as their next debate was whether you should sunbathe naked in the garden.
*This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 12.30pm
