Ludi Lin will put all the superheroics he learned in Power Rangers to good use in DC Entertainment’s Aquaman solo movie.
The Black Ranger actor has been cast as one of DC Comics’ great military heroes in director James Wan’s upcoming spinoff of the Justice League franchise, according to Deadline.
Lin will be playing Murk, a leader among Atlantis’s military class the Men-Of-War and one of Aquaman’s most trusted allies on the frontlines. Murk has been a staple of the comments since first appearing in 2013.
In DC lore, Murk’s motivations haven’t always been entirely trustworthy. He was at one time in sworn allegiance to Aquaman’s Orm because he believed him to be Atlantis’s rightful king.
Patrick Wilson has been cast as Orm in the live-action film, so perhaps we’ll see a little scheming between the two behind Aquaman’s back?
Lin continues to round out an impressive cast for the superhero epic, with Nicole Kidman on board as Queen Atlanna, Dolph Lundgren as the enemy king Nereus of Xebel and The Get Down‘s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II landing a breakout role as the villainous Black Manta.
Also expected to feature are the terrifying Trench, a swarm of monstrous ocean creatures who shred through anything or anyone in their way with their ultra-sharp fangs.
Aquaman will arrive on December 21, 2018, but Jason Momoa’s hulking hero will first be seen in Justice League, which is arriving in the US and the UK on November 17, 2017. Watch a trailer below:
