Prison Break creator has started writing season 6

Prison Break creator Paul T Scheuring has started writing season 6 – and he’s hinted at a return for William Fichtner as fan-favourite Mahone.

“If you must know, I finished the 601 script,” Scheuring wrote on Twitter, before confirming that there’s “somewhere between 50-150 percent chance” that Mahone will be back.

Needless to say, people were thrilled:

Back in January, we got official word from US channel Fox that early work on a sixth season is under way.

“We are developing a new iteration of Prison Break,” Fox boss Michael Thorn told reporters at a TCA press tour.

The network executive then teased: “It’s in very early stages of development, but we’re really excited about it.”

Dominic Purcell (Lincoln Burrows) definitely seems to be involved in the next phase of Prison Break, and Wentworth Miller (Michael Scofield) would seemingly be available as well, since he’s recently announced that he’ll stop playing Captain Cold in The CW’s DC TV universe.

Meanwhile, Miller previously disclosed that he’d pitched an outrageous idea for a sixth season of Prison Break, in which Michael and Lincoln would be forced to revisit all of their breakouts from years past.

The latest season ended with Michael granted full immunity for the crimes he committed while under the thrall of rogue CIA agent Poseidon (Mark Feuerstein), leaving him free to play happy families with Sara and Mike Jr.
