Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘s release is only six months away now, but the question of where Daisy Ridley’s Rey comes from still keeps us awake at night.
Now a leak from the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront 2 seems to support our favourite theory about our the new Jedi’s secret origin.
(Warning: Contains possible spoilers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi)
Two images of Rey on a customisable screen have been revealed. One shows her wielding Anakin Skywalker’s old lightsaber, which she came into possession of in The Force Awakens.
The other shows her with a weapon that appears to be Obi-Wan Kenobi’s lightsaber.
Could this support the theory that Rey is related to Luke’s old master, Obi-Wan? Other evidence includes the use of both Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor’s voices in her Force Awakens vision, as well as her costume and the parallels between Guinness sneaking around the Death Star and Ridley’s escape from Starkiller Base.
The lightsaber design is also similar to Luke’s second, green lightsaber, but certain design features and the weapon’s blue blade indicate that it is more like to be Obi-Wan’s.
The other pictures of characters in the game have all shown them with the appropriate weapons – although it has been pointed out that the game definitely mixes and matches in other areas (such as allowing Rey to go up against Darth Maul).
What do you think? Is this further evidence of a Rey/Obi-Wan connection? Or are we reading way to much into this?
Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be released in November, with The Last Jedi following on December 14 in the UK and December 15 in the US.
