Robert Downey Jr is either teasing a cosmic upgrade to Iron Man’s suit… or he’s just a big fan of mech armour in general.
The upcoming Avengers: Infinity War is poised to be the biggest Marvel movie of all time because it’s the first entry that will bring every corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe together to fight a common foe… Thanos.
As part of that mission, characters like Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow and the Scarlet Witch will travel into the cosmos for the very first time (aside from Tony’s oh-so-brief trip into space in The Avengers).
Stark Industries is deffo on the cutting edge of earth technology, but not even Tony has the skills to create an Iron Man suit fit to travel into other atmospheres. That’s where the craftsmanship of Asgard come in handy…
Robert Downey Jr shared the breathtaking photo above on Facebook on Friday (May 12), drawing speculation about whether Stark could eventually have tweaks made to Iron Man’s suit while on Thor’s homeworld.
This exact suit is actually a prototype created by a third party company – Prince Armory, not Marvel Studios – but the timing of Downey’s post is quite interesting. The Avengers cast
It’s at least possible that Downey is hinting that we’ll see Iron Man’s suit get some sort of cosmic overhaul during the two upcoming Marvel team-up films. And if the idea of a mech suit this sleek making it to the big screen some day doesn’t excite you, you’re not a true believer after all!
Avengers: Infinity War will be arriving in UK cinemas on April 27, 2018 and hits the US a week later on May 4, 2018. The currently-untitled fourth Avengers movie will debut almost exactly one year later in 2019.
