Now that we know that Solo: A Star Wars Story is good after all, we can start looking forward to any potential sequels that might be in the works.
Which is handy, because Emilia Clarke – who plays Qi’ra in the new film – has revealed that she’s actually signed up for multiple titles in a galaxy far, far away.
Just like Han himself, Alden Ehrenreich…
Chatting to The Hollywood Reporter, Emilia confirmed that she has signed on for any future spin-offs of the Han Solo spin-off, but isn’t sure if she’ll actually feature in any of them.
“I think it’s like an insurance thing,” she conceded.
Another Star Wars spin-off that looks possible, but in no way confirmed, is a standalone Lando Calrissian movie starring Donald Glover.
Reports started to emerge earlier this week claiming that Lucasfilm was already working on a new Lando project, but they later turned out to be a (disappointing) mistranslation.
A spokesperson for Lucasfilm soon clarified that the original publication had “corrected” its article and said that Kathleen Kennedy’s comments were ‘misunderstood’.
“She said it’s something she’d like to do one day in the future,” the spokesperson reiterated.
Director of Solo Ron Howard has also weighed in on an extended Star Wars universe, admitting that the decision to make a sequel will ultimately be down to the fans.
“They’re single movies exploring the galaxy; but of course, as a company, I think [Lucasfilm and Disney are] going to be very interested to see how people respond to it and take it from there.”
Solo: A Star Wars Story will be released in cinemas on May 24 in the UK and May 25 in the US. Book tickets now.
