The executive producer, who took over from Dominic Treadwell-Collins, explained that he has begun holding back information about storylines from the cast until the very last minute.
Believing that the actors have become just as excited as the viewer to find out what’s in store, the soap boss said: “Generally, what we’ve started doing is not telling the actors too much about what’s coming up and they find that exciting – they get their scripts but until then, they often haven’t got a clue what’s inside them.”
However, Sean made it clear that he wasn’t doing it to purposely withhold information.
“That’s not to tantalise them or keep them in the dark, it’s to make them excited about getting their scripts for the first time and seeing what’s going to happen to their characters,” he added to the Metro.

Believing that the decision to keep the stars in suspense for a bit has played out on screen, Sean continued to comment: “If you can transmit that excitement to them, it comes over on screen and in turn excites the audience; and that’s pure gold dust.”
Revealing how the new process has been embraced by Jake Wood, who plays the role of Max Branning, Sean said: “Because Jake is really feeling it – he didn’t want to know too much about his story.
“He just wanted to know enough.”
Along with the continuation of Max’s shocking revenge storyline which Sean has promised will be “epic”, the Carter family will also be at the centre of attention.
Amid the troubles in her marriage to Lee Carter, Whitney’s feelings for Lee’s dad Mick came back and she kissed him a second time as she recovered in hospital after the bus crash.

With Linda Carter none the wiser about what happened on that day, Sean revealed that it could all explode in a series of special episodes.
“[Whitney] has some huge episodes to come – including a showdown with Mick and Linda in the pipeline which will be a Carter three hander where all of the emotions of the past few months will come crashing into the heart of the Square,” he said.
“It’s going to be fantastic.”
