Superman can’t even go to his mum to get some moral support and confidence.
Diane Lane was appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen when she took a pretty innocent-sounding fan question: “Can you give us any Justice League spoilers and do you think it will be better than The Avengers?”
But no-one could have expected her succinct response, given that she has played Superman’s mum Martha since Man of Steel.
“No and no. Short, but honest. I hate to disappoint,” Diane responded.
However it turns out that we all got the wrong end of the stick and she wasn’t firmly on Team Marvel over Team DC.
“Diane meant ‘sorry to disappoint’ in reference to revealing anything concerning Justice League that is not already out in the public, and was declining to comment on a film (Avengers) that she has not seen,” her representative told ComicBook.com.
“She is thrilled to continue her role as Martha Kent, and appreciates your excitement for Justice League.”
So that’s that cleared up then.
But maybe we shouldn’t expect to see too much of Martha in Justice League given that Superman (Henry Cavill) died at the end of Batman v Superman.
He’s been missing from the trailers to date and from the most recent poster that united the league, so who knows? Maybe he really is dead and is definitely not going to make a totally surprising comeback.
Justice League comes out in cinemas on November 17.
