Survival Of The Fittest: The cast including James Middleton, are reportedly at risk of attacks from lions [ITV]
Survival Of The Fittest bosses have ramped up security over the possible danger that animals such as lions could come in close proximity to the lodge that the contestants are currently staying in.
Concerns were raised when a lion attacked a poacher in the same region to where the new reality TV show is filmed.
“This is a bit startling and the danger of living next to these beautiful but deadly animals has now really hit home,” an insider revealed.
“Security on set are sure to be doubly wary after reports of the fatal incident,” they added to the Daily Star.

Commenting on the risk of an attack from lions, expert Maheshwor Dhakal warned: “Human blood has more salt than animal blood. Once wild animals get the taste of salty blood they do not like other animals like deer.”
But this isn’t the first time that the contestants, who are based in the South African savannah, have been put at risk as a result of their surroundings and its residents.
Following the launch of the show, it was revealed that the water surrounding the lodge had to be cleared of crocodiles.
“Bosses have made sure that the entire area is completely safe for the contestants – and that includes the waterhole that they travel across using the foot bridge,” a source told The Sun.

“They vetted the water using giant nets which helped them to remove any unwanted wildlife, including some crocodiles.”
The insider added that the production team also had to move boulders from the area to make sure that the tasks could be completed safely.
They added: “Large rocks that could have easily been dangerous to someone swimming in the hole were also taken out so it’s now a harmless spot for contestants to enjoy.”
Since the show began, two challenges have taken place with the boys team winning both.
As a result, the girls team were left in a vulnerable position after Laura Whitmore explained that a member of the team would be leaving the show.
