The actress, who plays the role of Lorna – the mum of one of the abuse victims – explained how she felt when she found out the extent of the abuse and the way the young girls weren’t believed when the scandal was taking place.
During an emotional conversation on Loose Women, Lisa also revealed how important it was for the three part drama, which has been praised by Coronation Street actress Lucy Fallon whose character is embroiled in a sex ring storyline, to cause a reaction with viewers.
Talking to Christine Lampard, Linda Robson and Nadia Sawalha, Lisa said: “To play the part of Lorna and to hear the reactions that are going on now, we knew it would have a reaction.
“It’s important that we got that reaction that’s the main thing and we had three and a half months of filming and of course it cocooned my life and I got angry and I got more angry.”

“It could have gone one of two ways and the story was so true. I’m so honoured to have played the part of Lorna and to give these girls a voice because no one believed them.”
Lisa also admitted that whilst she felt haunted, she was able to lean on former Detective Maggie Oliver, who was on the case during the investigation, for support.
“You’d have 12 hour shoot days but I had Maggie to lean on,” she declared.
After a chat with Lisa, Christine then introduced Maggie on the show where she shared her thoughts about the drama and the reaction it has received.
“It’s quite overwhelming really because it’s restored my faith in people.
