Competition to get on TV around the US Super Bowl is notoriously fierce – so This Is Us has scored a massive goal in achieving a coveted scheduling slot.
Because, according to TVLine, the drama series has been handed the post-Super Bowl slot for one of its second season episodes.
NBC has announced that an episode will air immediately after Super Bowl 52, which is scheduled for Sunday, February 4, 2018.
Away from this slot, the show is moving its regular airing time to Thursday evenings in the States, where it will air after Will & Grace and Great News.
This Is Us stars Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore and follows the lives of the Pearson ‘triplets’ who were, coincidentally, conceived during the Super Bowl.
The drama has been a runaway success so far, debuting to 10.1 million viewers last September. It’s also been nominated for several awards, including a Golden Globe and a Critics’ Choice Award.
NBC ordered two more seasons of the show back in January, with the channel’s entertainment president saying at the time: “We all got our wish that this is a hit show.
“This Is Us is as good as anything we’ve ever had. We’re thrilled to renew it for two seasons and there’s no doubt it will have a long life on NBC.”
This Is Us airs on Channel 4 in the UK.
