Fear the Walking Dead could be set to take a major leap in season four, at least going by a massive hint from creator Robert Kirkman.
The comic writer has seemingly confirmed that The Walking Dead season eight leads directly into the spin-off, suggesting a major time jump for Fear.
“This half of season eight leads directly into Fear the Walking Dead season four, which will shake that show in a majorly cool way,” Kirkman writes in the Letter Hacks section of issue #176 of The Walking Dead comics (via ComicBook.com).
“So make sure you hang around for that.”
We already knew that Morgan Jones would be crossing over to Fear, so this follow-on would likely mean he survives season eight.
It also debunks theories that season four will fill in the gaps from one of Morgan’s absences in an earlier season of The Walking Dead.
On top of that, it adds weight to the rumour that Rick Grimes could appear in the spin-off, with star Andrew Lincoln recently teasing that it may not be the end of Rick and Morgan’s story.
“It was a very, very sad back eight,” he explained to EW.
“There were lots of goodbyes, and big goodbyes as well. But there was a sort of sense, certainly, with Lennie, that it’s until we meet again. It’s always been that way with Rick and Morgan.
“I don’t know, there’s something in the air, that I feel that it’s not quite the end yet for Rick and Morgan.”
Fear the Walking Dead begins right after The Walking Dead finishes its eighth season on April 15, though the UK will have to wait until April 23.
