Will & Grace star was “very sad” to lose Rosario from the series revival

Will & Grace is back, but there’s one major player missing from the series revival.

Karen’s maid Rosario does not feature in the new episodes, with actress Shelley Morrison having retired from acting in 2016.

The character was killed off in ‘Rosario’s Quinceanera’, with Karen (Megan Mullally) seen to be struggling with the loss of her friend.

The episode closed with Karen delivering a final eulogy in a surprisingly touching moment.

“She’s retired from the business,” Karen actress Megan Mullally told Digital Spy. “On the one hand, it was very sad because I love Shelley, and I loved the relationship between Karen and Rosario, and I think a lot of fans did. So that was very poignant.

“But on the other hand, they wrote what I consider to be the best episode of Karen so far in the 200-plus episodes we’ve done of the show. And I was very honoured that they wrote that for me.

“To be honest, I don’t get very many chances to show a more dramatic side. So I was very appreciative of that final monologue.”

Will & Grace has already been renewed for another season after this one, with talks afoot about making even more episodes in the future.

The current season continues on Fridays at 10pm on Channel 5.
