The singer, who won the ITV talent show in 2008 and duetted with Beyonce during the star studded final, looks set to show off her dancing skills in order to help her relaunch her TV career.
Following a successful music career, Alexandra moved on and carved a career for herself in the west end when she appeared in a number of musicals.
However, it appears the star is ready to return to the small screen.
“This seems the perfect way for her to do it,” a source told The Sun.

“She has heard a lot about how great the experience is and can’t wait to get started. She is already working hard on her fitness.”
While Alexandra’s spokesperson didn’t confirm her link to the show, they explained that the idea was “nice.”
The star’s link to the show comes after the speculation that the likes of former TOWIE star Lydia Bright, Bros star Matt Goss and Rylan Clark Neal will also be appearing on the show.
Strictly Come Dancing fans will have to wait for the official line up which won’t be confirmed until late August.
However, the professional line up has already been confirmed with one major change.

Despite winning the glitterball trophy with Ore Oduba last year, Joanne Clifton has revealed that she won’t be back to try and retain her victory.
Explaining how her performance with Ore at the start of the new series in August will be her last, the Radio Times reported her saying: “Being part of the Strictly experience has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me.
“And I will miss the show so much. It’s been a tough decision but I am looking forward to facing new challenges and focusing on my musical theatre career.”
However Joanne won’t be the only one who won’t be performing in front of the judges, including Len Goodman’s replacement Shirley Ballas.

While she only started her Strictly Come Dancing journey last year, Robert Rinder’s pro partner Oksana Platero also confirmed that she had hung up her dancing shoes.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One later this year.
