Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will run against St. John’s professor

One down, one to go.

After taking down Rep. Joe Crowley in the upset of the year, newly minted Democratic nominee Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will go up against Republican Anthony Pappas in the 14th Congressional District in Queens and the Bronx in November.

The Astoria resident’s university bio shows he teaches economics and finance at St. John’s and has a doctorate in economics from Yale.

Pappas’ bid is a long shot. Democrats outnumber Republicans in the district by roughly 6-1, voter registration records show.

And there is little evidence that Pappas has begun actively campaigning: The Post could find no campaign website or Facebook page, nor does it appear he has filed any paperwork yet with the Federal Election Commission to begin raising money.

The Queens Republican Party website for candidates for the 2018 election is blank.
